Agia Varvara, is a small rock island 10min away from Malia port by boat. It is about 300m offshore in front of the beautiful old village of Sissi.
On the east and the west side of the rock the depth is between 5-8m and it’s getting deeper as we swim to the north, where we can reach a maximum depth of 14m.
The dive site is characterised by its colourful bottom and a lot of cracks and holes are waiting to be explored.
One of the remarkable points is a “swim through” in 13m depth which is 10m long and wide enough to swim with safety through, giving schools of different reef fish, lighted by sunbeams coming through the ceiling.
The dive site is ideal, as a second dive of the day, for both experienced and inexperienced divers, as well as for beginners. |
